Bardwell explained to the Associated Press that,
“I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way… There is a problem with both groups accepting a child from such a marriage…I think those children suffer and I won't help put them through it."
It’s as if the 40-plus years since Loving v. Virginia, where the Supreme Court found that laws prohibiting interracial marriages were unconstitutionally discriminatory, never happened.
